Addie Gaskins Obituary

Addie Elizabeth Hall Gaskins received her wings in the early morning hours on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at her son’s home, due to a long-term illness. She was affectionately known as “Plum”.

She was born on August 17, 1934, in Kinsale, Virginia to the late William Dorsey Hall and Sarah Elizabeth Braxton Hall. She was one of three children. Addie was raised in Kinsale and attended Hacketts Hill school and then A.T. Johnson High School until graduation. Then she met her soon to be husband, George “Buckey” Gaskins, and they were married for 61 years.

Addie was preceded in death by her husband, George; three sons, Dorsey, George, and Anthony Odell Gaskins; her parents, William and Sarah Hall; and brother, William Hall.

Addie accepted Christ at an early age and joined Hackets Hill Baptist Church, better known today as New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Plum loved cooking, sewing, and doing hair. She was employed for over 25 years by Bevans Oyster Company until retiring. She was also a life-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She leaves to cherish fond memories her son, Maurice Hall (Jacqueline); a devoted like daughter, Kim Dixon; two grandsons, Anthony Ontario Gaskins and Christopher Baker; one granddaughter, Miranda Hall; two great-grandsons, Anthony Ontario Gaskins Jr. “AJ” and Brayden Baker “Buddha; brothers-in-law, Herman, Ray, Leroy, and Taylor; sisters-in-law, Christine, Louise, Mary Dorothy, and Lynn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

We like to give special thanks to the staff at Commonwealth Senior Living, James River Hospice, and her personal caregivers, Arlean Byrd, Matilda Baker, and Donna Taylor
