Allen Roosevelt Henry Obituary

Allen Roosevelt Henry entered into rest on April 20th, 2024, at Memorial Regional Hospital in Mechanicsville, Virginia.

Allen was born on July 11, 1945, to the late Walter Jr. and Rosie Henry. Allen received his education in Montross, Virginia. He excepted his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at an early age at Siloam Baptist Church in Zacata, Virginia.

Allen could play the drums like no other. He could sing like an angel. He sang so good that the girls would hover around the stage. He was in a band called the Donatones and another band called Little Henry and the Rockets. Everybody wanted to come hear them wherever they played. Allen’s style reminded you of Fats Domino.

Allen was employed at Camco in Tappahannock, Virginia for many years. He was also employed at Stratford Hall for 16 years and for the Virginia Department of Transportation for 10 years until he retired.

Allen was an avid sportsman who particularly loved the Dallas Cowboys. He would watch sports of any kind all day long except for when he was watching old cowboy movies.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Rose Henry; two brothers, James and Clarence Henry; sister, Cora E. Ray; sister-in-law, Arnetha Henry; and nephew, Stacy Henry.

Allen leaves to cherish his memory his son, Jovon Asher; his caregiver and special niece, Joy Veney (Howard); sister, Ellen Brooks; sister-in-law, Sharon Oliveau; nieces: Vera Andrews, Veta Berryman (Will), Audra Habson (Will), April Brooks; nephews: Kevin Henry (Kay), Sherwin Henry (Sherian), and Darren Henry (Michon); and a host of great, and great-great nieces and nephews.
