Annie Mae Richards was born May 2, 1957, in Westmoreland County, Virginia to the late Myrtle and William Fauntleroy.
Annie was educated in the Westmoreland County Public Schools. She accepted Christ and was baptized at Zion Baptist Church at an early age.
Annie retired from 7-Eleven as a clerk after many years. She had a lot of hobbies including knitting and doing word puzzles. Annie loved God and her family dearly. She also loved her pocketbooks!
Annie was joined in Holy Matrimony to John Richards, Jr. on July 19, 1974. To this union two children were born, Fabrette and Tyrone.
Annie served as Deaconess at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Annie departed this life at Mary Washington Hospital on December 8, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Myrtle Fauntleroy; brothers: Carol, Samuel, William “Bill”, and Harold Fauntelroy, Norman and Carl Garner, Charles and Richard Campbell; brother-in-law, William Henry; father-in-law, John Richards, Sr.
Annie leaves to cherish her memories her loyal and devoted husband of 50 years, Minister John Richards, Jr.; daughter, Fabrette Gardner; son, Tyrone Richards; grandson, Timosis Gardner; seven sisters: Mary Kelly of Warsaw, VA, Delois Wright (Herbert) of Montross, VA, Gloria Brooks (Pastor Frank) of Kinsale, VA, Eliza Henry of Hague, VA, Lillian Yerby (Samuel) of Hague, VA, Brenda Pratt (Dennis Sr.) of Hague, VA, and Clara Smith of Kinsale, VA; uncle, Floyd Campbell of Kinsale, VA; mother-in-law, Rosie Richards of King George, VA; three brothers-in-law: Robert Richards (Earlene) of Caroline County, VA, Rodney Richards (Delanie) of King George, VA, and Jerry Richards (Tina) of Caroline County, VA; four sisters-in-law: Darlene Brooks (George) of King George, VA, Earlene Thrower of Colonial Beach, VA, Sylvia Davis of Spotsylvania, VA, Carol Richards of Richmond County, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Home going Services for Annie Mae Richards will be held on Thursday, December 19 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the Zion Baptist Church, 1274 Zion Church Road, Kinsale, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Zion Church Cemetery.
The viewing will be on Wednesday, December 18 from 4PM until 6PM in the chapel of the WELDON-FISHER FUNERAL HOME and from 10AM until service time on Thursday at Zion Baptist Church.
