Barbara Jean Ball gained her wings on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Northern Neck Senior Care, Warsaw, VA. She was born on
November 20, 1945, to the late James Arthur and Essie Smith in Westmoreland County Virginia.
At an early age, she joined Zion Baptist Church, Kinsale, VA. She later moved her membership to Community of Light, Hague, VA and was a faithful member until her health started to decline.
She received her education in Westmoreland County Public Schools. She was a seasonal worker for many years.
Bie, BieJean, Barb, and Joe as she was called by many, loved everyone that she came in contact with. She loved the holidays and spending time with family. But most importantly she loved the Lord, even on her sick bed she continued to call on the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories her children, Lewis Ball, Beverly Lovelace, Kimberly Turner (Alvin), and Tanena Henry (James); bonus son, Darryl Turner (Nikki); goddaughter, Tammy Carter (Earl); daughter-in-law, Sandy Ball; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; brothers, Carlton Smith and Larry Smith; sister, Barbara Wallace; brothers-in-law: William Ball (Francis), Larry Ball (Debbie), and Clay Ball (Altoria); sisters-in-law, Marie Smith, Jeanette Smith, Delois Jackson, Doris Coward (Lordy), Henrietta Newman, Millverte Ball, Jacquline Ball, Lottie McCoy; a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends; special friends: Mary T. Wilson, Phyllis Ball, and Alice Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fairfax Ball; son, Keith Ball; granddaughter, LaKesha Ball; parents, James and Essie Smith; sisters: Joanna, Connie and Annette; and brothers: Sonny, Tony, Jimmy and Carter.
Funeral Services for Barbara J. “Bie” Ball will be held on Friday, October 27 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the Zion Baptist Church, 1274 Zion Church Road, Kinsale, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Remains may be viewed from 4PM until 6PM on Thursday, October 26 in the chapel of the WELDON-FISHER FUNERAL HOME and from 10AM until service time on Friday, October 27 at Zion Baptist Church.
