Bobbie Turner Obituary

Bobbie Jean Turner was called home to eternal rest on April 8, 2023 at Virginia Commonwealth University Hospital. She was born on March 22, 1960, in Westmoreland County Virginia to Betty Lou Nash and the late James Nash (Daddy Cool). Bobbie grew up in Westmoreland County, where she attended the public school system. She joined Zion Baptist Church in Kinsale, VA and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a faithful member of Zion Baptist where she also served as a committed usher and choir member.

At age 13, she was confined to a wheelchair but that never stopped her determination to succeed in life. She spent most of her childhood years in the hospital and rehabilitation centers in Charlottesville, VA. After her rehabilitation, she was reunited with her family.

She held several jobs where she was worked at Cople Elementary school part-time with the youth. She enjoyed eating crabs so much until she worked for a local crab house in Montross, VA. She also offered a helping hand for family and friends with home childcare.

Although she was confined to a wheelchair, she still wanted to be an independent woman living on her own. Over 20 years ago, Bobbie moved out of her mom’s home and into her own apartment. She did everything in her apartment on her own. She loved to cook her own meals and would tell you often how to cook your own. She was a strong-willed, independent, and courageous woman. Bobbie started noonday bible study on Tuesdays for the residents at Warsaw Manor Apartments led by Bishop Gerald Smith from 2016 to 2019. Bobbie single-handedly set up the facility ensuring everyone had a place to sit, bibles to read, and refreshments. She was serious about leading souls to the Lord. Bobbie was serious about spreading the word of God by posting daily scriptures and encouraging words for her Facebook friends and family to start their day.

Bobbie was an author where she wrote her first book, “Thank You God for Keeping Me Here”. Bobbie was proud to share her story with the world as she promoted her book throughout the Northern Neck about her life journey and how GOD saved her life when the doctors thought she would only live past 25 years of age. During the last two years of her life, Bobbie pursued entrepreneurship as a Paparazzi Jewelry Consultant. She loved working for Paparazzi and was tenacious in her efforts to grow her clientele and sell as much jewelry as possible.

Bobbie enjoyed fellowshipping with family and friends. She also enjoyed the art of makeup and styling her own hair which was one of her many talents. She would often tell her family what did and did not look good on them. She was a straight shooter and told the truth in love. You were either going to cry or laugh!

Bobbie had two wonderful caregivers as well, Freda Turner and Quoryanna Haynes.

Bobbie leaves to cherish her loving mother, Betty Lou Nash, five sisters, Freda Turner, Claudia Jones, Minister Shirley Blagmon (Wayne), Loretta Nelson (Bryant) all of Hague, VA and the late Gayle Nash and one brother the late Frankie Nash, to include a host of nieces and nephews. Bobbie had several close friends, Delois and Herbert Wright, Pastor Willetta Fauntleroy, Jerry Henry, Fran Baylor, Amy and Gerald Hackett, Albert Fauntleroy, Reginald Johnson, and Donald Fisher (Kirk Kirk).
