Deacon Jerry L. Weldon

Jerry L. Weldon was born on March 25,1942, in Westmoreland County, VA to the late Walter L. Weldon and Martha Weldon-Thompson. He was the youngest of five children.

He worked in construction for over thirty years with Laborers District Council Pension & Disability Trust Fund Union, 7130 Columbia Gateway, Columbia Md.  He worked on rebuilding the Pentagon after the 9/11 terrorist attack in 2001. After many years of government service, he retired in January 2008.

At an early age he gave his life to Christ at the Highway Christian Church of Christ at 432 5th West NW Washington, DC, Pastor Genwright and First Lady Cheryle Genwright. He was known as Deacon Weldon where he served for over thirty -five years . He also served in the Church located in Magnolia, MD with Pastor Bishop Williams in the 70’s and 80’s.

His passion was helping others and going to church every Wednesday and Sunday. On January 24th, 2021, he peacefully departed from his life at the age of 78.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Walter and Martha Weldon; first wife, Elizabeth Weldon; brothers, Charles Weldon, Eric Weldon; sisters, Sarah Thompson and Bertha Bundick.

He leaves to cherish his memories daughter, Andrea D. Gray; son-in-law, Dwayne O. Gray; granddaughter,  Daraya A. Gray; and nieces and nephews, cousins and friends

Funeral service for Jerry Weldon will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11AM at the Jerusalem Baptist Church, 2404 Nomini Hall Road, Hague, Virginia.

Interment will follow in the Thompson Family Cemetery, Bull Neck Road, Hague, Virginia.

Remains may be viewed on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 10 AM until service time at the Jerusalem Baptist Church.
