Sandra “Sandy” Lee Ball gained her wings on Saturday, June 1, 2024. She was born October 31,1962 to the late James Mervin and Annie Mae Gray. Early in her life, Sandy, as she was lovingly called, accepted Christ and joined Second Baptist Church, Warsaw, VA. As her faith grew stronger in the Lord, so did Sandy’s role in the church. She was a Deaconess, served as the Missionary secretary, Women of the Word (W.O.W) secretary, chair of the Mother of the Church committee, served on the Hospitality Committee, and Pastoral Transitional Team. She was also a member of the Seasoned Saints Praise Dance Team (1st all women’s praise dance team), and in August 2023, Sandy became an ordained Deacon, then became a member of the Deacons Union. In addition to the many hats she wore, she faithfully attended Sunday School, Bible Study and made sure to be on the prayer line every Wednesday morning.
Sandy received her education in Richmond County Public School system, graduating in 1983. She went into the workforce immediately after high school where she found her passion for helping and doing for others.
Sandy was a selfless warrior, who made sure her family came first. She enjoyed cooking large meals on Sundays and holidays. She loved to dance, dress nice, and get her hair done every two weeks. Wherever Sandy went she left an impression.
In 1996, Sandy met the love of her life, Keith. They married in 2011. Sandy was known to all as Ma, Grandma, “Sandy Ball” and “Gray” as Keith would call her. She was the glue that held the family together. She was truly the family matriarch. A woman of few words with a giant heart, she never took anything for granted.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Ball; parents, James Mervin and Annie Mae Gray; sister, Veronica “Ronnie” Gray;brother, Revelle Fauntleroy; and son-in-law, Jerry Nelson.
