Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Dock Hill-Bey affectionately called Papa Dock. He was the second of four children born to the late Dock and Vilena Hill. Born June 4, 1957, in Hallsboro North Carolina. Dock attended DC public schools, received a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies (Summa Cum Laude) and associate degree in applied Science. Author of book named Just for You Metaphorically. Dock has received many accolades for his love and support in his lifetime.
Dock was a true trendsetter who turned heads everywhere he went. Even as a child his eclectic style was far beyond his years.
Dock was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church where he served on the choir. He loved the lord one of his favorite scriptures from the bible was Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall, I fear?
Dock enjoyed music (especially Chuck Brown) he loved to dance and sing and play the keyboard and guitar. He had a gift of wisdom, understanding and helping people to believe in themselves if you had a dream to do something in life, he was that person to push you to accomplish that dream, he was your biggest motivator.
Dock leaves behind three children, Latosha, Carlos, and Wayne; three siblings, Irene Hill and Tami Allen (two peas in pod) and was preceded in death his sister, Bonnie Kay Hill; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four nieces, Renee, Dinesha, Thakia (Key) Tamia; four nephews, Terrell, Marquest, Antonio, and Robert; 15 great nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Reginald Allen; a host of friends to include his extended Sharpe and Byrd family; and most of all his devoted companion Betsy LoftonDock
Wayne Hill-Bey departed this life on Saturday, February 18.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 4 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the Little Zion Baptist Church, 7748 Leedstown Road, Oak Grove, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Little Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
His remains may be viewed from 10 AM until service time on Saturday at Little Zion Baptist Church.
