Dorothy Wright Tate

Dorothy W. Tate was born August 4, 1932, to the late Mary Elizabeth Wright in Westmoreland County VA.
She transitioned to be home with the Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at her home in Hague, VA.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Wright; her son, Edward Daniel Wright; brother, John Willie Johnson Sr.; and her sister, Rosie E. Hunter.

Dorothy received her education at the Old Kremlin School in Hague, VA.  She accepted Christ and became a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Oldhams, VA. She faithfully served on Jerusalem Baptist Church Senior Choir, Missionary Circle, and the Jerusalem Baptist Church Nurses Unit.

Dorothy was employed at Foxwell Seafood for many years. She became a CNA and did private duty nursing for many more years until she retired. She loved her family, her church family, and the community. She loved her church programs and helping anyone if she could. When you saw Dorothy, her hair and clothes and accessories had to coordinate. She had a beautiful smile to match her beautiful appearance.

Left to cherish her loving memory are daughters, Mary Hundley (Nathaniel) of Tappahannock VA, Nancy Turner of Dover Deleware, and Jeanette W. Smith of Hague, VA;
sister-in-law, Irene Johnson of Warsaw, VA; eight grandchildren, Fitzagerald Weldon, Timothy Weldon, Jeralis Weldon,  Kimberly Thompson Dillahunty, Charles Thompson Jr., Fredra A. Wright, Melisha L. Wright, and Edward Smith; devoted friend, Henry C. Lee; and a host of nieces and nephews and great grandchildren and cousins and friends. 

Home Going Services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 11AM in the sanctuary of the Jerusalem Baptist Church, 2404 Nomini Hall Road, Hague, Virginia.

Interment will follow in the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Remains may be viewed from 4PM until 6PM on Friday, June 3, 2022, in the chapel of the WELDON-FISHER FUNERAL HOME, and from 10AM until service time on Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church.
