Elsie Elizabeth Parker Veney (Lizzy or Liz) was born on July 12, 1937, to the late Mamie Sydnor Veney and Robert Parker. Raised by stepfather Cornelius (Cobb) Veney. God called her home on August 3, 2023, from her home in Haynesville VA to be with Him.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence Veney and son, Earl Wesley Lee.
Lizzy attended Bethethel School on Threeway Road and later they moved to Emmerton and she attended Mulberry School. At an early age she joined Mulberry Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Young.
Lizzy had quite a few jobs. She was at the Elastic Plant, CamCo, School Bus driver, Newspaper delivery but the longest work was with Lee High Paving for 18 years from where she retired. People would ask, are you hot out here. She would reply, not really, it gets cool on Friday’s (it’s pay day).
Lizzy was always on the go. When you see her, you usually will see one or more of the daughters with her. She always enjoyed having a good time with family and friends.
Her favorite song was “O Lord, I Want You to Help Me”. Lizzy loved to watch Gunsmoke, Living Single, Paternity Court, Family Feud and Martin. At the age of 82 she was still cutting grass, weedeating and doing yard work.
She leaves to cherish her memories 6 daughters: Doris Davis of Emmerton VA, Annette Lee of Haynesville VA, Lenora Lee of Warsaw VA, Cozet Lee of Emmerton VA, Francine Newton of Haynesville VA, and Shirley Jenkins of Callao VA; one son, Craig Veney of Emmerton VA; sisters: Peggy Johnson (Carl) of Rockville MD, Margaret Smith (Sam) of Oldhams VA, Annie Winfield of Tappahannock VA, Gloria Parker of Oldhams VA, Marie Dixon (Jimmy) of Oldhams VA, and Catherine Parker of Florida; brothers: Odell Veney (Sandra) of Village VA, Robert Parker of Philadelphia PA, and Julius Parker of Germany; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Recognition of love to all her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and her devoted friends Teresa Montgomery, Rolene Burrell, Karen Fauntleroy, Francis Blue and Alethia Veney.
