Eugene Vernell Dudley received his heavenly wings and transitioned from labor to reward on December 1, 2022 at Mary Washington Hospital.
“Noodie” as he was affectionately called by family and friends was born on September 13,1937 to Eleanor Dudley. Eugene received his education from Westmoreland County Public Schools Eugene was employed by Perry Tate for numerous years until his health began to fail.
Eugene was an avid sports fan with his favorite sport being baseball. “Noodie” was such a jokester, he always had a very quirky story to tell. He had a way of “opening” up a room with a laugh or two. Even in the face of adversity he found laughter in the smallest corners. He had a heart of gold and would give you his last dime. His presence here on earth will be greatly missed.
Eugene was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor Dudley; sisters Marjorie Wynn, Christine Waters, Julia Thompson, and brother Robert Dudley.
Eugene leaves to cherish his memories wife: Gwendolyn Dudley, three children: Etta (Allen) Lawrence of Richmond, VA, Sharon (Ellis) Andrews of Suitland, MD, and Ella (Tony) Sandridge of Colonial Beach, VA; four grandchildren: Renault (Lena) Gray, Virginia (Brian) Gaines, Jerome Hayes, and Ashley Hayes; eight great-grandchildren, one great, great-grandchild; two brothers, William (Ebbie) of King George, VA, Benjamin Dudley of Colonial Beach, VA; two sisters, Frances Holmes of King George, VA, Joyce Blakey (Preston) of Charlottesville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 9 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church, 619 Jackson Street, Colonial Beach, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Sharpe Hill Cemetery, Round Hill Road, King George, Virginia.
Remains may be viewed from 10AM until service time on Friday at First Baptist Church.
