Gertrude G. Hackett was born on November 16, 1925, to the late Levi and Jane Ann Garner. She went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 4:46 p.m.
Gertrude was educated in Kinsale Public Schools. She worked at several oyster houses during her lifetime.
She was a loving and caring wife and mother. She enjoyed being around family and friends.
Gertrude is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Garland O. Hackett; three brothers; two sisters; three sons; and a grandson.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Margaret Askew, Catherine E. Taylor (Arthur), and Mary G. Cooper (Isaac); one son, Jeffery Hackett; twenty-five grandchildren; fifty-four great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
Funeral services for Gertrude Hackett will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 1PM in the chapel of the WELDON-FISHER FUNERAL HOME.
Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, 1274 Zion Church Road, Kinsale, Virginia
Remains may be viewed from 11AM until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
