Glenda J. Thompson was born on March 19, 1952 to the late James W. Thompson and Frances P. Thompson. On September 25, 2023, Glenda departed this life at INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, VA when God’s voice called her home to rest and suffer no more.
Glenda accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Centreville, VA. She was a faithful follower of God.
After graduating from A.T. Johnson High School, she attended Old Dominion University in Portsmouth, VA where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, followed by attending Pepperdine University in California receiving her Master’s Degree. She later married William “Bill” Mathews. She was a Lead Test Engineer for Accenture Federal Services and retired in March 2022.
Glenda was a devoted friend to many and always had a beautiful smile. She enjoyed making time for her family and friends and sharing meals with them.
She leaves everlasting memories of her life with her siblings: James “Jimmy” Thompson, Jr. (Henrietta), Sylvia Love (Darrell), Rita Stanley, aunt: Joyce Roane; cousins: Hope Wise, Tracy Roane, and Desirae Roane; nieces: Lakesha Reed, Brittany Love-Campbell, (Bryan), Tina Lee, Larell Pratt; nephews: Justin Love (Rhonda), Stephen Love (Whitney); great nieces and nephews: Tyler Reed, Shaniya Love, Briana Campbell, Justin Love II, Bria Redway, Arie Love, Brielle Campbell, and Kyuana Brown; best friend, Tina Cooper; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Glenda J. Thompson will be held on Wednesday, October 11 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the Jerusalem Baptist Church, 2404 Nomini Hall Road, Hague, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery
Remains may be viewed from 4PM until 6PM on Tuesday, October 10 in the chapel of the WELDON-FISHER FUNERAL HOME and from 11AM until service time on Wednesday, October 11 at Jerusalem Baptist Church.
