Helen Thompson Jones was called to her eternal resting place on April 29, 2026. She was born on June 30, 1935, to the late Albert and Gladys Thompson.
Early in life, Helen was baptized and joined Zion Baptist Church in Kinsale, Virginia.
She was educated at Mud Bridge School. Helen worked at the Department of Commerce in Washington D.C. During the Summer’s, she worked at the Straugh Tomato Canning Company. In the Winter’s she worked at the George Dean Oyster House and Ronnie Bevans Seafood House.
Helen loved fishing with family and friends. She also enjoyed watching football cheering on her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.
On April 12, 1958, Helen was united in Holy Matrimony to Samuel Arthur Jones and from this union was blessed with four children. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Her family played a significant role in her life. Even during her illness, she had a beautiful smile and kept her faith.
Beautiful memories of Helen will forever linger in the heart of her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, Samuel Jones; four loving children: Helen Jones, Burleigh Jones, Cheryl Toliver, and Linwood Jones, Sr.; fifteen beautiful grandchildren; thirty-three adorable great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one loving daughter-in-law: Cynthia Sydnor-Jones; six siblings: Phillip Thompson (Elizabeth), Vastie Brown, Albert Thompson, Tyrone Thompson (Charity), Deborah Thompson, and Darneal Turner (Robert); two sisters-in-law: Louise Thompson and Larrsine Thompson, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by four siblings: Melvin Thompson, Mary Daniels, Norris Thompson, and Theodore Thompson.
