Herbert H. Conley

Herbert Harris Conley, son of the late James and Julia Conley was born on March 23, 1949, in Westmoreland County Virginia along with his twin brother, Hoover. Herbert’s purpose on this earth came to an end on December 16, 2023 at the Regional Memorial Hospital in Mechanicsville, VA.

Herbert was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Kinsale, Virginia under the leadership of Bishop Donn R. Hall. Herbert always had a special place in his heart for his “Orientation Class” teachers Dawanna Jackson and his friend, First Lady, Sister Shirley Hall.

Herbert was a very loving and caring person. He enjoyed talking to anyone. I believe Herbert will be remembered the most by the way he would lovingly pick at you. If you knew Herbert you know what I am talking about.

Herbert was employed by the U.S. Government where he worked his way from digging ditches to becoming the General Foreman of the Military District of Washington. Herbert retired from the U.S. Government in 2010 after 30 years of service. Herbert was presently employed in the transportation department of Westmoreland County Public School System transporting two beautiful young ladies to Richmond along with his assistant June.

Those left to cherish his memories are: his wife of 44 years, Marrian; two sons, Herbert and Keith; four grandchildren: Izaiah, Maya, Kevin, and Kameron; four brothers: James (Catherine), Roscoe (Pam), Leonard (Angela), and Gleenwood (Anne); two sisters, Viola and Julia; his uncle, John William Fulcher; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; his two brothers-in-law, James and Wilbur.

Herbert was preceded by his grandson, Keith Jr.; brothers: Ralph, George, Hoover, Walter; sister, Marie; and nephews, Damien and Keith.

Home going Services for Herbert H. Conley will be held on Saturday, December 23 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the Zion Baptist Church, 1274 Zion Church Road, Kinsale, Virginia.

Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Remains may be viewed from 4PM until 6PM on Friday, December 22 in the chapel of the WELDON-FISHER FUNERAL HOME and from 10AM until service time on Saturday, December 23 at Zion Baptist Church.
