James Theodore Franklin Barnes was one of four sons born to the late Frank and Anna Barnes on July 12th, 1936.
Known to his family and friends as “Ted”, “Crook”, “Cadillac Jack”, Jack was called “my child” by God on December 14th, 2022 at 11:11 a.m. at his residence.
Theodore married Hope Gaskins on October 1, 1969, and they were blessed with a daughter, Pamela.
Theodore was a logman, fisherman, construction worker, and a dump truck driver, which he later owned and drove his own truck. Theodore enjoyed motorcycle and drag racing. He was part owner of a race car which his brother, Duke sometimes drove at different race tracks. He was also a fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
Theodore retired from his business after his health declined.
Theodore professed his love of God and faith in God in 2022 under the leadership of Minister Mary B. Smith and was served communion.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, William “Bill” Ashton and Thornton “Duke” Barnes; two nephews, Trevin and Jerry Barnes; sister-in-law, Doris Barnes; father and mother-in-law, William and Nellie A. Gaskins; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Gaskins, Sr.
Theodore is loved and will be missed by his wife of 53 years, Hope Gaskins Barnes; daughter, Pamela A. Kowal (James); brother, Joseph B. Barnes; sisters-in-law, Tolatha R. Barnes, Cora Gaskins-Johnson (Roger), Evelyn Holloway (Lonnie); brother-in-law, Wallace Gaskins (Annie); and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Theodore loved you all!
James Theodore Barnes departed this life on Wednesday, December 14.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 21 at 12 Noon in the chapel of the WELDON-FISHER FUNERAL HOME
Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, 1274 Zion Church Road, Kinsale, Virginia.
Remains may be viewed from 4PM until 6PM on Tuesday, December 20 and 11AM until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
