In the Spring on April 4, 1983, James C. Hamilton, III “AJ” was born to James C. Hamilton, Jr. and Annette P. Hamilton in Prince George’s County Hospital in Maryland. AJ was educated in the Virginia Beach public school system and was a graduate of Ocean Lakes High School in 2001. He was baptized at an early age and knew God was his Lord and personal Savior.
AJ joined the United States Army where he served for 8 years. During his military career, AJ served overseas in Afghanistan and received Army Commendation Medals, plus four other medals for the war on terrorism. AJ was proud to have served his county.
AJ was a hard worker on every job that he had, his last being at O’Malley’s Timber, where he was very well known as a hard worker.
He loved to play all sports from an early age, especially basketball. AJ was Redskin fan from birth with his dad. He loved to talk trash with his brothers, dad, and family while watching the games. His favorite basketball players were Allen Iverson and Lebron James.
AJ touched the hearts of many during his life. To know him was to love him. AJ married Denise Henderson and this union was blessed with four children: Elijah, Andrea, Audrina, and Jasmine, who preceded him in death. His children were his whole life.
Loved one that preceded him in death include his grandmother, Rosanna Lawrence; and grandfathers, Ernest Brooks Sr., James Hamilton Sr., and Dennis Marshall; and his uncle, Ernest W. Brooks, Jr.
AJ leaves to cherish his loving memories his son, Elijah; his daughters, Andrea and Audrina; parents, James “Jay” and Annette Hamilton; grandparents: Alwilder (Patricia) Hamilton and Gregory Lawrence, Sr.; brothers: Dwayne (Christina) Hamilton, Ernest Hamilton (Chrissy), and Davon Hamilton (JaMia); aunts: Ronnie (Jack) Jackson, Allison (El) Hannibal, Valetta (David) Lazro, Brenda Joyner, Javinia (Lorenzo) Wright, Tracey (Levent) Gray, Deborah Hamilton; uncles, Melvin (Renee) Hamilton and Gregory (Tiann) Lawrence; four great-aunts; two great-uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, loving cousins, extended family, and friends.
Funeral Services for James C. “AJ” Hamilton, III will be held on Saturday, April 1 at 12 Noon in the auditorium of the Essex High School, 833 High School Circle, Tappahannock, Virginia 22560
The family will receive friends from 11 AM until service time on Saturday at Essex High.
