John Ashlock Obituary

John Wayne Ashlock entered into eternal rest at Inovia Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia on March 9, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 21, 1962, to Ada Mae Ashlock and the late St. Phillip “Budd” Ashlock.

John attended Essex County Public Schools. He was employed at Central Virginia Mill and Riggings, LLC in King & Queen County, Tidewater Lumber Corporation in Tappahannock, Virginia, Henkles and McCoy in Richmond, Virginia, and the Schauber’s Lumber and Saw Mill in Chestertown, Maryland. John was loyal and dedicated to all of his occupations. Due to an accident on the job, he became unable to work anymore.

John was a loving son, brother, and friend whose warm personality and inspiration touched all that came in contact with him. He was thoughtful, giving, and had a heart of gold. John loved his family. To know him was to love him. He was loved by many, and never met a stranger. John enjoyed riding out, good eating, and the Washington Commanders.

John was preceded in death by his father, St. Phillip Ashlock; two brothers, James Jr. Ashlock and Thomas Latney Johnson; and sister, Lisa Ashlock Robinson.

John leaves to cherish his loving memories his mother, Ada Mae Ashlock of Tappahannock, Virginia; Eunice T. Holmes of Tappahannock, Virginia; two brothers, James D. Ashlock (Joyce) of Brunington, Virginia and Edward A. Ashlock  (Elisa) of Tappahannock, Virginia; special friend, Larry; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Funeral Service for John Ashlock will be held on Saturday, March 23 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the St. John Baptist Church, 155 St. John Road, Tappahannock, Virginia.

Interment will follow in the New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, 33030 Sparta Road, Milford, Virginia.

Remains may be viewed from 10AM until service time on Saturday, March 23 at St. John Baptist Church.,
