John Mitchell "Tippy" Wilson

John Mitchell “Tippy” Wilson went home to be with the Lord on August 24, 2022, at age 68, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. 

He was born February 17, 1954, in Kinsale, Virginia, to Harvey and Mary Wilson. 

John was married to Delda (Casey) Cason.  He had two beloved daughters Serena Wilson and Denise (Robert) Johnson both of Maryland, a stepson Christopher Severson of Georgia and grandchildren Yanaii, Delijah, Xavier, Isabelle, Rajah.

As a child he worked many jobs along the shores of Virginia, such as shucking oysters.  Then he went on to have a 22-year career with the US Army, followed by 23 years at Walmart.  John enjoyed time spent with his loving family, playing games with his grandchildren, "loving on" his dogs Diamond and Gizmo, bowling, fishing, all sports, and he was a die-hard Redskin's Fan.  John has been a longtime resident of Augusta, Georgia, but his heart was always in Virginia.

John is also survived by his siblings Harvey (Rosemary) Wilson Jr., Carolyn (Darryl) Fisher, Curtis (Candy) Wilson, Jimmy (Reba) Wilson, Rita Wilson, Rosemary Turner, Mother-n-law Audrey B. Brown, Brother-n-law Anthony (Jen Wallace) Harper, Bernadette Halstead, Theresa (John) Zielinski and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Harvey Wilson Sr. and Mary (Campbell) Wilson, his brother-n-law William Turner, and Father-in-law Richard Brown.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the Zion Baptist Church, 1274 Zion Church Road, Kinsale, Virginia.

Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
