John "Curly" Redmond, Sr. Obituary

John Allen Redmond was born on November 29, 1967, to the late Nettie B. Redmond and Joseph J. Redmond Sr.

John departed this life on January 21, 2024.

John is preceded in death by his mother, Nettie B. Redmond and his godparents, Hilda and Pernell Owens.

John accepted Christ at an early age and joined Morning Star Baptist Church. He was educated in the Northumberland County Public Schools.

John loved to spend time with his kids, grandkids, family, and friends. He cherished each and every one that came into his life. He loved to have a good time, especially when it came to dancing and hanging with his friends. He loved to watch Tombstone and the Blues Brothers while drinking Mt. Dew.

John will always remain in the hearts of his loved ones.

John leaves behind to cherish his memories his son, John Allen Redmond Jr. (Dana) of Wicomico Church, VA; his daughter, Xsté Jarne Redmond (Kahniel) of Heathsville, VA; his father, Joseph J. Redmond Sr. of Lancaster, VA; six sisters: Mary McNeil (Vaughn) of Hampton, VA, Grace Kelley (Gary) of Lancaster, VA, Direthia Thornton (William) of Reedville, VA, Alice Redmond (Terraine) of Lancaster, VA, Shirley Redmond of Reedville, VA, and Doris Reed (Marvell) of Lancaster, VA; brother, Joseph J. Redmond Jr. of Topping, VA; two god-brothers, Walter Savory and Irvin Owens; godsons: Markis Redmond, Da’Quan Dickerson, Jaquis Smith, Javaugh Thomas, and Little Kaiyden; god-daughters: Shaynette, Teresa, Keyana, Kiara, and Poo Lot; one aunt, Ida Williams of Baltimore, MD; seven grandchildren: Johnyla, Layton, X’Stayuh, Skylar, Zryruh, Zyquan, and Liam; special friends: James D. Redmond, Eric Palmer, Richard Day, Thurston Crockett, Monique Crockett, Conrad Kelly, Marlene Kelly, and Michael Thompson; and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services for John A. “Curly ” Redmond, Sr., will be held on Wednesday, January 31 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the Morning Star Baptist Church (Browns Store) 849 Beanes Road, Heathsville, Virginia.

Interment will follow in the Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery.

Remains may be viewed from 4PM until 6 PM on Tuesday, January 30 in the chapel of the WELDON-FISHER FUNERAL HOME and from 11AM until service time on Wednesday, January 31 at Morning Star Baptist Church.
