On Monday, September 9, 2024, God extended his almighty hand of love and gently took Josiah Amari Buckner to a home of joy, peace, and happiness. Josiah was born on September 24, 2002, to Lawrence and Melanie Buckner.
Josiah was educated in the public school system of Colonial Beach High School. He confessed his faith in God at an early age and was baptized and became a member of Little Zion Baptist Church in Oak Grove, VA.
Josiah was a devoted father, son, brother, and grandson. He was employed at Walmart as a Retail Overnight Stocker. He played recreation football up until High School. He was the Coach of the King George Stars. He was called “Skump” AKA “Umpy” by others. He was dedicated to his team players and always made sure they had what they needed. He will be remembered for his compassionate disposition for the Game.
Josiah was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lovell and Mary Ann Ladner; and Lawrence Buckner.
Josiah leaves to cherish fond memories his son Landon Buckner; his parents, Lawrence and Melanie Buckner; two brothers, Adarylis Ladner and Ramsey White; one sister, Shakira Buckner; five nieces: Zyla, Kemani, Brooklyn, Amiri, and Zuri; paternal grandparent, Linda Buckner; aunt, Marilynn Hodges; uncle, Terry Ladner; devoted girlfriend, Skyla Mauro and soon to be baby girl “Lailah”; and a host of other special family and friends.
A Funeral Service for Josiah Buckner will be held on Wednesday, September 18 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the Little Zion Baptist Church, 7748 Leedstown Road, Oak Grove, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Little Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
The viewing will be from 10AM until service time on Wednesday, September 18 at Little Zion Baptist Church.
