Joyce Ann Wilson affectionately known as “Blue” or “Frankie”, was born on July 15th, 1954, in Westmoreland County, Virginia to the late Marshall and Georgiana Wilson.
Joyce received her education in Westmoreland County Public Schools, graduating from Job Corps in Charleston, West Virginia.
Joyce joined Zion Baptist Church in Tuckerhill, Virginia. She was a devoted member of Community of Light Baptist Church.
Joyce was fun-loving and full of joy. She was the life of the party! She loved to dance and praise God, attend concerts and shows. Joyce had a thing for collecting jewelry, purses, and her perfume. She loved to shop and wear her sweat suits.
Joyce worked for 22 years at the Architect of the Capitol (AOC).
On Saturday, July 27th, 2024, Joyce departed her earthly life at home surrounded by her family.
Cherishing her fond memories are her son, Travon Wilson of Lusby, MD; daughter, Sherika Wilson of Washington, DC; a special young lady whom was like a daugher, Joi Nixon of Waldorf, MD; three grandchildren: Kimberly Fisher, Mylah Wilson, and Colin Thomas; great-nephew whom she raised like a son, Brayon Wilson; six siblings: Lillian Ocarroll of Baltimore, MD, Mary T. Wilson of Montross, VA, Linda “LaLa” Powell of Hague, VA, Frances Garner of Tappahannock, VA, Minister Robert T. Wilson of Baltimore, MD, Pastor Ricky Wilson of Hague, VA; honorary sister, Deborah Dickerson; two sisters-in-law, Louise Wilson and Thelma Timmie Wilson; five special nieces: Yodira Wilson of Montross, VA whom she called or texted daily just to say they love each other, Velma Carey of Covington, GA, Vanessa Ocarroll of Tappahannock, VA, Melinda Wilson of Hague, VA, Myoshi Jackson of Baltimore, MD; two special nephews, Kevin Burnett of Washington, DC, Marshall Wilson of Fredericksburg, VA; a host of loving nieces and nephews; two best friends, Dorine Strictland of Upper Marlboro, MD and Bertha McKinley of District Heights, MD; a very special cousin, Beverly Ball who had the pleasure of taking very good care of her; two special Hospice nurses, Edna Brooks who took excellent care of Joyce and Tina Bibbens.
Joyce was preceded in death by Roland Wilson Sr., Clinton Wilson Sr., Julia “Becky Ross” William, Jackie Wilson, Albert “Catfish” Wilson, Patricia Wilson, and Catherine Wallace.
A funeral Service for Joyce Ann Wilson will be held on Saturday, August 3 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the Zion Baptist Church,1274 Zion Church Road, Kinsale, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Remains may be viewed from 10AM until service time on Saturday, August 3 at Zion Baptist Church.
