Kewaine L. Jones, affectionately known as “Waine,” departed this life suddenly on April 1, 2022. Kewaine was born to the late Sabrena Jones Bowens and Dwayne Johnson on July 11, 1990 in Richmond, Virginia.
Kewaine grew up in Neenah, Virginia which was a community of families that believed in being the village or extended family to each other. He attended the Westmoreland and Essex County Public Schools.
On August 22, 2015, Kewaine married Cari Jones.
Kewaine’s love for his family and friends was immeasurable and he possessed a spirit of making people feel better when they were in his presence. He was very fond of family gatherings and if he counted you as a friend, he proved himself to be a friend to the end. He had a quiet and easy-going demeanor and when his smile would overtake his always serious look, you would find yourself smiling along with him. We will greatly miss our son, grandson, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He will ALWAYS be in our hearts.
Waine loved his dog, Rage (aka “The Mascot”). He was an avid fan of the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders and the Duke University basketball team
He enjoyed shopping, traveling, taking vacations, and listening to good music, but his favorite pastime was to eat...eat...eat, particularly at Capital Grille in DC which was his favorite restaurant.
Kewaine was preceded in death by his mother, Sabrena Bowens; great-grandmother, Frances Branson; grandmother, Mamie Johnson; and grandfathers, Charlie Jones, and Leonard Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife: Cari Jones; father: Dwayne Johnson; sisters: Sherwaine Jones, Dominique Belton (Avery) and Diandra Johnson; brothers: O’teon “Cuda” Bowens, Otis “OJ” Bowens, Jr. and Jonathan “Ellis” Bowens; grandmother: Alberta Holmes (Charles); bonus father: Otis Bowens; aunts: Louise Branson, Marcella Johnson (Charles) and aunt/godmother, Pamela Branson-Ashton (Quintin); uncles: Sam Branson (Betty), Christopher Jones (LaTanya) and Charlie Jones Jr. nephews: Zymire Burrell, Xavien Thompson and Giovanni Thompson; nieces: Kayla Belton and La’Zaria Thompson; special friend: Nauchelle Pollard; and a host of cousins, friends and extended family.
