Lewis Albert Veney, better known as “Albert”, was the youngest son born to the late Mary Ida Sorrell and Clayburn Veney on Monday, April 30th, 1934, in Richmond County, Virginia.
After a brief illness, Albert was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, March, 17th, 2025, at his home in Callao, Virginia.
Albert received his education in the Richmond County School System and devoted himself to Mulberry Baptist Church from a young age. In 1957, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served with honor until his discharge in 1963.
Throughout his life, Albert held various jobs, including working at a sawmill, construction in Rockville, Maryland, hauling pokewood, and employment with several seafood industries. His passions included hunting, fishing, engine rebuilding (often completing projects in a single day), gardening, fast cars, classic TV shows, and jigsaw puzzles. Albert found immense joy in family cookouts, cherishing those moments with loved ones.
Albert’s legacy will forever be remembered by those who knew him, as a man of strength, dedication, and unwavering love for his family and friends. May his spirit live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his presence.
Albert was preceded in death by his three sisters: Martha Haynie, Pauline Veney, and Elizabeth William; and one brother, James Veney.
Albert leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 28 years, Rosetta Veney; two daughters, Shirley Jenkins of Callao, VA and Francine Newton of Haynesville, VA; one son, Craig Veney of Emmerton, VA; six grandkids: Andre Jenkins, Allatray Jenkins, Shorica Newton (Marvin), Mia Newton, Terrance Brown, and Nicole Veney; eleven great-grandkids: Shiane Taylor, Savion Taylor, Marveon Newton, Aiveonna Newton, Olivia Jenkins, D’myiah Newton, Terionna Newton, Shanyah Sorrell, Amon Brown, Zorrie Brown, and Travis Reed; one brother-in-law, Raymond Conley (Lillie); four nieces: Gustella Ball (Oscar), Dorothy Kelley, Shirley Haskins (Charles), and Lucia Thompson (George); one nephew, Lewis Johnson (Marie); seventeen nieces-in-law; seven nephews-in-law.
A funeral service for Lewis Albert Veney of Callao, Virginia will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 11AM in the sanctuary of the Mulberry Baptist Church, Farnham, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery.
The viewing will be on Friday, March 28 from 4PM until 6PM at Mulberry Baptist Church and from 10AM until service time on Saturday, March 29 at the church.
