Maceio Richards Obituary

Maceio D. Richards of Colonial Beach, Virginia passed away in his childhood home on Friday, February 23, 2024. Maceio was born to the late Carlos Stanford and the late Olivett Richards Peyton on February 17, 1951.

Maceio was baptized at an early age and became a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. He received his education from the Westmoreland County public school system before joining the Job Corp. Upon returning to the DC area, he worked as an office cleaner for the Washington Post, eventually rising through the ranks to become an assistant Crew Chief as a Press Operator before retiring.

But Maceio was much more than just a hard worker. He was known for his kind heart and his willingness to help others. In fact, he even helped two of his cousins and a close friend get their careers started with the Washington Post.

Maceio’s love for his family was unmatched. He was affectionately called Duke by some of his close cousins, and he was a walking family genealogist. He could tell you how everyone in the family was related, their birthdays, and the birth dates of most.

Before GPS was even a thing, Maceio was able to provide people with directions on how to get to many places. He would often take different routes when traveling to visit family and friends in Virginia, Maryland, DC, and Pennsylvania, especially when he would go to Chester, PA, and Philadelphia, PA, to get Hoagies for his family and friends. His adventurous spirit will be missed dearly.

Maceio’s presence will be deeply missed by his family and friends. But his legacy of kindness, faith, and adventurous spirit will live on through those who knew and loved him.

He leaves to cherish his Aunt Marie Bundy, a host of cousins, a god-daughter Ambera, a special friend Linda, and many, many friends.
