Marrill William Purce, Jr., affectionately known as “Noonie” by family and friends, entered rest on October 8, 2023, at his home in Colonial Beach, Virginia. Marrill was born on November 21, 1960, in Fredericksburg, Virginia to the late Marrill Purce, Sr. and Margaret Purce.
At a young age, under the pastorate of the Late Rev. Dr. Winston Scott Devaughn, Marrill professed his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized, becoming a member of Little Zion Baptist Church, Oak Grove, VA. He attended the Westmoreland County Public Schools system. He worked as a dedicated federal contractor for over 30 years at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, VA.
In July 2008, he was united in holy matrimony to the late Minister Brenda Smith Purce. He became a stepfather to her two sons, Curtis and Devone Cummings.
Marrill was very friendly, laid back, and always smiling. He was always willing to help anyone in need. His favorite pastime was watching sports; his favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. If his team won; he would often mimic Deion Sanders “Prime Time” shuffle.
Marrill was proceeded in death by his wife, Brenda; brother-in-law, Steve Scott; and his parents Marrill Purce Sr., and Margaret Purce.
He leaves to cherish his memories four sisters: Evelyn Wise (Thomas) of Montross VA, Vernessa Carey (Carl) of Ft. Washington, MD, Allison Scott of Springfield, VA, Patrice Hernandez (Isaac) of Springfield, VA; two nephews, DeRon Purce, Terren Wise; one niece Nadia Hernandez; one great-nephew Daveon Purce; two aunts, Blanche Johnson and Maud Smith (John) of Colonial Beach, VA; two aunts-in-law, Barbara Smith and Helen Smith; as well as a host of cousins and friends. He will be missed, but not forgotten.
Funeral services for Marrill “Noonie” Purce, Jr., of Oak Grove, Virginia will be held on Saturday, October 21 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the Little Zion Baptist Church, 7748 Leedstown Road, Oak Grove, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery, Foxhall Road, Oak Grove, Virginia.
Remains may be viewed from 11AM until service time on Saturday, October 21 at Little Zion Baptist Church.
