Mary F. Sayles Obituary

Mary Florence Sayles was born on August 7, 1947, in Essex County, Virginia, to the late Edward Sr. and Estelle Epps. She was educated in the Essex County School System and was baptized at an early age, becoming a faithful member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church in Caret, VA.

On December 5, 1964, Mary was united in holy matrimony to the late Andrew Sayles Sr. Their loving union was blessed with three children.

Mary was employed by H. Warshow and Sons, where she dedicated many years of service before retiring. For her, it was more than just a job—it was a place where she built lasting friendships that she treasured throughout her life.

Mary was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a cherished friend. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her.

On May 9, 2025, Mary was called home to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Andrew Sr., and her sister Lorraine Epps.

She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy, three children: Charlene Scott, Andrew Sayles Jr. (Renetta), and Rachel Broaddus (Tyson); her beloved granddaughter, LaKesha Sayles; and six grandsons: Marcus Carey, Michael Sayles, Christopher Sayles, Jeremy Sayles Sr., Montell Sayles, and Andre Gardner Jr. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Dominick Gardner, Jeremy Sayles Jr., Jordy Sayles, Legacie Sayles, and Londyn Sayles; one brother, Edward Lee Epps; her honorary sister, Joyce Wallace; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Mary’s legacy of resilience, love, faith, and family will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
