Minister Weldon Obituary

Lawrence Edward Weldon, affectionately known by all as “Giggles”, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday morning, February 28, 2023, at his home in Callao, VA. He was born on September 27, 1962, to the late Charles Weldon and Frances Day-Weldon of Westmoreland County, VA. He was the youngest of eight children.

Lawrence was educated in the Westmoreland County public school system and was a 1999 GED recipient. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the Jerusalem Baptist Church of Hague, VA under the leadership of Pastor Henry C. Lee.

Lawrence was united in holy matrimony to Delpheen Brooks of Callao, VA on December 27, 1986. This marriage was blessed with two children. Lawrence and Delpheen settled in Callao, VA. He then joined and became a  member of Lively Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Frank Brooks. He served as a Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, and Deacon at Lively Hope Baptist Church. He attended Vacation Bible School faithfully. Lawrence was always willing to serve in any capacity upon request. Later, he heard a calling from God and preached his initial sermon at Lively Hope on July 19, 2015.

In 1983, Lawrence was employed by the Levi Strauss and Company, when they were located in Warsaw, VA for 16 years. He also worked for the Xerox Company, Chandler Chevrolet in Tappahannock, and the Rappahannock Community College in Warsaw, VA.

Lawrence loved his family and loved spending time with them. His hobbies included, first and foremost, reading the Bible. He loved his cars, working in the yard, and helping others when they needed it. His love for music spoke for itself, playing and listening. He loved to dance and would mimic Michael Jackson in a minute. Anyone who came to visit knew he loved to watch his western TV shows. To the grandkids, Pop Pop was the apple of their eye. He was a people person who made a friend anywhere he went. Never judgemental, he looked at everyone the same. Most of all, Lawrence loved God...and he didn’t mind letting you know that he loved God. During the time of his illness, his faith was strong. He trusted the Lord through all he had to endure.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Weldon and Frances Day-Weldon; and his sister, Rosalind Epps.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Delpheen Brooks-Weldon; son, Phillip Brooks-Weldon (Amber) of Tappahannock, VA; daughter, Keisha Weldon of Callao, VA; four grandchildren: Phillip Lawrence Brooks-Weldon, Jr., London Brown, Mila Brown, and Chayce Weldon; four brothers: Rodney Weldon of Hague, VA, Lewis Weldon of Colorado Springs, CO, Raymond Weldon of Hague, VA, and Walter Weldon of Kinsale, VA; two sisters, Joeann Weldon of Hague, VA, and Janice Green (William) of Hague, VA; two aunts, Dorothy Weldon of Hague, VA, and Mary Jackson of Baltimore, MD; uncle, Herbert Johnson of Hague, VA; brother-in-law, Ryan Epps of Richmond, VA; nieces and nephews: William Green II, Kevin Green, Christopher Green, Jessica Weldon, Liyah and Jaela Smith, Candice Carey (James), Daelen Yerby, Jermaine Weldon (Nesha), Jaxon and Jacob Weldon, LaShonda Epps (Tina), Nicholas Weldon, Nick Jr., William, and Nalasia Weldon, LaTanya Epps, and Tanikqua Epps; and a host of loving cousins, relatives, and friends
