Pastor Paul Sylvester Jones, Sr.

Paul Sylvester Jones was born on April 28, 1947, to the late Henry B. Jones and the late Gladys Wilson Jones. He was educated in the Westmoreland County school system. Paul accepted Christ at an early age and joined Zion Baptist Church.

During his adult years, he did construction work in the DMV area. He later retired and returned home and accepted a job in the Westmoreland County System. He was a hard worker and provided well for his family.

Paul was united in marriage to Shirley Parker on July 2, 1979.

He rededicated his life and became active in Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Frank Coleman. He accepted the call to the Work of the Gospel Ministry in December of 1995 and was ordained in December 2001. He became Assistant Pastor under the leadership of Apostle Donn R. Hall. He was active and involved in the Jail Ministry, Nursing Home Ministry, Spiritual Advisor, home visits, phone calls, and other areas of ministry as needed. Previous to his ordination, he served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, missionary teacher, president of the Men’s Fellowship (now known as ALL Together Men’s Fellowship), and as president and spiritual advisor to the Bright Stars Community Singers.

Paul was a loving, caring, and dedicated family man that was blessed with five children; two from a previous marriage, two step-children, and a son from his present marriage.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories wife, Shirley; three sons, Paul Jr. (Lolita), Henry Benjamin (Jamie) Jones, and Anthony Parker; two daughters, Amanda Jones and Tijuanan Parker; brother, Richard Jones (Thelma); two sisters, Gladys Henry and Barbara Garner; six sisters-in-law, Elsie, Verna, and Catherine Jones, Juanita Cox (Earl); Sandra Tarlton (Tom), and Maxine Parker; three brothers-in-law, Carey Parker (Sherry), Melvin Parker (Gracie), and Kenny Parker; and a host of grandchildren; great grands, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Levi, Silas, Lessel, Add, William, and Louis Jones; and sister, Margaret Crabbe.

Pastor Paul S. Jones, Sr., of Zion Baptist Church, Kinsale departed this life on Friday, February 11, 2022. 

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the Zion Baptist Church, 1274 Zion Church Road, Kinsale, Virginia.

Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Remains may be viewed from 4PM until 6PM on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Zion Baptist Church, where all Reflections, Acknowledgements, and Tribute's will be done at that time.

Pastor Jones may also be viewed from 10AM until service time on Saturday at Zion Baptist Church.
