Pastor Emeritus Wilbur Dameron was born June 12, 1936, in Westmoreland County to the former Sarah Ann Newman and Wilbur Rogers Dameron. He was educated in the Westmoreland County School System. He accepted Christ at an early age.
A native of Kinsale, VA in Westmoreland, he ventured away from home when he joined the United States Army in 1953. He served until 1959 being stationed in Maryland, Georgia, England and Arizona. Before his enlistment, he met and fell in love with the former Ada Josephine Hunter. They were united in Holy Matrimony October 12, 1956. From the union, they were Blessed with six children.
Upon his return home, Pastor Emeritus became active in New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Kinsale, VA. At his home church, he served as an Usher, a Sunday School teacher, a Trustee and a Deacon. In 1967, he received his call to the ministry. He was licensed to preach in July 1967 and ordained in October 1967.
Preaching God’s word throughout The Northern Neck and beyond, he served as pastor of three churches: Beulah Baptist Church (13 years) in Lively, VA; Salem Baptist Church (27 years) in Mt. Holly, VA and Shiloh Baptist Church (30 years) in Lerty, VA all while working as a full time truck driver for Montross Hardwood.
Pastor Emeritus retired from Shiloh in 1995 but heeded the Lord when he called him back in 2000. He served there faithfully until 2018, when he officially retired from pastoring. He loved Shiloh so much that he not only saw them as family but also as his church family, hence moving his membership there.
His faith in God was unwavering, his love for his family was unceasing and his dedication to his calling was unmutable. He loved us all and will be sorely missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Ann Lee, Edgar Lee and Wilbur Rogers Dameron; brothers, Wallace and John Arthur; sisters, Shirley Dameron and Sarah Cooper; and his sons, Michael and Mark.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 68 years, Ada J. Dameron; his loving children: Beverly Landry (Ray), James Dameron (Melody), Nicole Dameron-Artis (Ron) and Wallace Dameron (Coty); his supportive daughters-in-law, Arlene and Adrienne; his beautiful sisters: Irland Rowell, Barbara Brooks and Peggy Samuel (Frank); Many wonderful nephews and nieces; A special cousin, Sterling Dameron and other caring family and friends. His adoring sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, whom he loved and was proud of, will make sure his legacy lives on.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 12Noon in the sanctuary of the Shiloh Baptist Church, Montross, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
The viewing will be on Friday, March 14 from 5PM until 7PM at Shiloh Baptist Church and from 10AM until service time on Saturday at the church.
