Preston P. Fauntleroy “Mook”, the son of the late Wade Hampton and Mary Etta Fauntleroy was born January 25, 1964 in Virginia. He was peacefully called to rest on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, surrounded by family.
Being special friends, the hearts of Preston and Judith Howard were joined together in holy matrimony on April 24, 1991. They were blessed with two children, Raven and Dorian.
As a husband, father and grandfather, Preston gave guidance, wit, wisdom and love. He never hesitated to give of himself to be helpful in any way he could. When it came to family, without hesitation, he would step in to make sure everything was taken care of and everyone was happy. The grandchildren especially benefitted from his generosity, and they eagerly looked forward to his plans for them.
During his childhood years, Preston loved to play baseball. He indulged in his favorite pastimes, spending time with his grandchildren and family, being outside at home, working around the home and yard. He also enjoyed fishing with the fellas. His friendliness endeared him to his co-workers, neighbors and friends.
During his childhood, he became an active member at Zion Baptist Church in Tucker Hill, Virginia, singing in the Zion Men’s Choir. Later years he attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Preston attended Westmoreland County Public Schools. He was employed with Bevans Oyster Company. In 2001, Preston joined the Grunley Construction Company, Washington DC, where he was a dedicated worker.
Preston was preceded in death by his parents, Wade Hampton and Mary Fauntleroy; father-in-law, John Howard; brothers, Hampton Fauntleroy and Sherman Fauntleroy; sisters, Lillian Brooks and Maude Campbell.
Cherished memories will forever be cherished by his wife of 34 years, Judith Fauntleroy; daughter, Raven Fauntleroy Cutler (Darius); son Dorian Howard (Tamara Holden); special daughter, Lagasha Sydnor; seven grandchildren, Jory, Jatavious, Kailyn, Julien, Lyric, Joelle, and Khari; mother-in-law, Ann Howard; six brothers, Robert Taylor Fauntleroy (Caroletta), Albert Fauntleroy (Victoria), Louis Fauntleroy (Willetta), James Fauntleroy (Lisa), Lonnie Fauntleroy (Dora), and Sylvester Fauntleroy; five sisters, Joyce Campbell, Linda Coleman (Larry), Rosemary Wilson (Harvey), Annette Henry, and Janice Page (James); a bonus sister, Mary Florence Kelly; two sisters-in-law, Stacy Howard-Carter and Crystal Howard; three brothers-in-law, Alvin Howard, John Howard Jr., and John Wayne Campbell; special friends John Henry and Robert Wallace and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
