Raymond Corbin was born on July 31, 1942, in Warsaw, Virginia to the late John and Viola Corbin. On Thursday, May 7, 2026, at approximately 8:00 a.m., he transitioned from his earthly season to his eternal season with the Heavenly Father.
He was joined in holy matrimony to Doreatha B. Corbin on March 5, 1965.
Raymond received his education through the Richmond County Public Schools. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined Clarksville Baptist Church at the age of 12. He served as a Deacon for 29 years and was a Chairman for 3 years. Raymond sang with the Mass Choir and Men’s Choir. He remained a faithful member until his health declined.
Raymond was a faithful worker for 44 years at Easter Virginia Research Center and had the honor of having a soybean named “Corbin”. He read the Bible religiously; his favorite chapter was First John. Raymond had many trades including being an Uber driver and helping anyone in need. He enjoyed listening to gospel music and southern blues, watching Family Feud and Inside Edition, as well as being a comedian. He showed support to his grandkids in their sporting events. Like people say, “Everyone loves Raymond.” Raymond was one of a kind. He was soft spoken but yet outspoken. One of his famous church sayings was, “And one more thing...”.
Raymond was the most wonderful gift from God to his adoring wife, children, other family members, and friends. He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father. He exhibited compassion and empathy to everyone he met. We offer eternal thanks to God for blessing us with such a kind and loving husband, dad, granddad, and friend.
Raymond is preceded in death by his son, Michael Corbin; three sisters: Bernice and Pauline Corbin, Virginia Mae Landon; brother, John (Billy) Corbin; and nephew, Ron Carey.
Cherishing his loving memories are his wife of 61 years, Doreatha B. Corbin; two daughters, Sarah (DeeDee) Gunnell and Tammi Corbin; three grandchildren: Brandon Gunnell, Oscar Matos Dela Rosa Jr., and Ta’Mela Corbin; two great-grandchildren, Janiyah and Jakai Gunnell; five nephews: William (Carl) Corbin, Floyd (QueShana) Veney, Tyrone and Wayne Landon, and Jason Corbin; two nieces: Gail Jones, Patricia (Mickey) Taylor; two great-nieces, Teisha Landon and Yolanda Cooke; two brothers-in-law, Wayne and Jackie (Jennifer) Kelly; two sisters-in-law, Debbie Guion and Dallas (Shawn) Forman; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
