Robert Taylor Laws Jr., better known as “Snipe”, “Shiny Shoes”, “Lawman”, and “Pop”, was born on September 7, 1952, to the late Robert T. Laws Sr. and Florence Veney Laws. The angels called to him and he followed them Home on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.
Robert attended the Julia G. Page School in Farnham, Virginia and later the Richmond County Public School in Warsaw, Virginia.
He joined Mulberry Baptist Church at an early age and attended faithfully. He sang in the Mulberry Mass Choir, Senior Choir, and Men’s Choir. Robert loved singing and sharing God’s word as he traveled along the way, wherever he went. His favorite requested song was “Morning Train”.
Robert was employed by Ben Smith Oyster House, Mega, Capt. Tom’s Seafood, and the State of Virginia for 29 years. He was a die-hard Eagles, Mets, and Pistons fan.
He married Bernice Barber Laws on September 30, 1989. Together they had a son, Antonio Laws.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert T. Laws Sr. and Florence Veney Laws; and his brother, Calvin L. Laws.
He leaves to cherish his memories wife, Bernice Laws; son, Antonio (Eboni) Laws of El Paso, TX; three grandchildren, Madison, Marcus, and Malik Laws; sister, Verneda Laws of Warsaw, VA; brother, Cardell (Sigrun) Laws of Charlotte, NC; uncles, Leon (Pearl) Laws, Lloyd (Gracie) Laws; aunts, Christine Veney, Delores Balland, and Virginia Redmond; nieces, Dana, Tylesha, Shannon, and Shawnika; nephews, Kevin, Brian, Antwan, Chris, and Cameron; godson, Kymir Stewart; children he called his own, Tomeka Bryant, Gary Ball, Taquantaze Lewis, and Tiffany Newton; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends
Celebration of Life for Robert T. Laws, Jr., will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 1PM in the sanctuary of the Clarksville Baptist Church 445 Menokin Road, Warsaw, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Clarksville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Remains may be viewed from 4PM until 6PM on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Clarksville Baptist Church and from 11AM until service time on Saturday at Clarksville Baptist Church.
