Robert Wise Jr., also known as “Squeaky” and “Pops” was born in Neenah, VA on March 30, 1951, to Robert and Ella (VA) Wise, Sr.
Robert was baptized at an early age and remained grounded in his faith throughout his life. Over the years, he worshipped at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Hague, VA, and New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Kinsale, VA. After relocating to Tappahannock, he joined St. John Baptist Church, where he continued his spiritual journey under the leadership of Pastor Jonathon Mercer.
He received his early education in the public schools of Westmoreland County. After graduating from Washington and Lee High School in 1972, he attended The Computer Learning Center in Fairfax, VA to further his education in Computer Operations.
He worked for H. Warshaw & Sons for 18 years as a knitting machine operator. He was also a Manager for several McDonalds for 25 years. Later in life, he became a Bus Driver for Westmoreland and Essex County until his health began to fail.
Robert was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who touched many lives throughout the Northern Neck community. He brought joy, laughter, and comfort to those around him and cherished all of his grandchildren deeply, each holding a special place in his heart. Robert treasured spending time with family and friends, and one of his favorite pastimes was sitting beneath the Tappahannock Bridge in the early mornings, enjoying his breakfast and a cup of coffee. Whether sharing jokes or sending thoughtful messages through text or Facebook, he created countless memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Robert transitioned into eternal rest in Essex County, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Melvin Wise and Richard (Dickie) Wise, his sister Marion “Ellowease” Harcum, and Andre Wise whom he loved and raised as his own son.
Robert shared many years of life with Princess Newman after their marriage in 1980, and together they raised their children and grandchildren while creating lasting memories.
He was blessed with four loving children whom he leaves to cherish his memories: daughters, Anissa Turner (Bobby), Keisha Wise, and Keonte Oviedo (Nicholas) and son, Keith Wise; Khristen (who he lovingly helped raise); fourteen grandchildren: Donnie, JaJuan, Khristen, Azzurai, Kenedi, Keiley, Ceniya, Keimare, Keion, Nevaeh, Mikko, Kameron, Samara, and Adaiyah (NuNu); eight great-grandchildren: Amarri, Jaylen, Harmoni, Kaysen, Nova, Kofi, Silas, and Kash; sister, Mamie Hickman (Allen); his special nephew/best friend Curtis Smith; a bonus son, Michael Maith; and a host of other relatives and friends.
