Roland Wilson, Sr. Obituary

Roland Thomas Wilson, Sr., affectionately known as “Hound”, was born November 25, 1944, in Westmoreland County, Virginia to the late Marshall and Georgiana Wilson.

Roland received his education from Westmoreland County Public Schools. Roland joined Zion Baptist Church in Tucker Hill, VA at an early age. Later in life, he joined the Community of Light Baptist Church where he became a Trustee and attended regularly until his health began to fail.

On November 20, 1965, Roland was united in holy matrimony to Ella Louise Clarke, and was blessed with three children, Buster, Flair and Chris.

Roland worked many years at Clark Construction in Washington D.C. where he was a foreman. After retiring he loved to spend time with his family and grandkids who could do no wrong in his eyes.

On Saturday December 02, 2023, Roland departed this life at home with his family. Roland was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle to ALL. A great man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, whether family, friend or stranger. Roland loved to laugh and often made jokes. Roland would often say, “no fool no fun” to let Loopy (Lala) know that he was just joking.

Cherishing his fond memories are his wife Ella “Louise” Wilson; his son, Marshall Wilson, Sr. (Samantha); 9 grandchildren: Darshia Ashton, Drayfus Wilson, Keyondra Wilson, Quatiah Carey, Malik Wilson, Alexia Wilson, Brayon Wilson, Ayden Wilson and Marshall Wilson, Jr.; one great-grandchild, Demiya Ashton; two god children that he loved beyond measure,  Tavon Wilson (Charles County, MD) and Sherika Wilson, (Washington, D.C.); seven siblings: Lillian O’Carroll (Baltimore, MD), Mary T. Wilson (Montross, VA), Linda “LaLa” Powell (Hague, VA), Frances Garner (Tappahannock, VA), Elder Robert T. Wilson (Baltimore, MD), Bishop Ricky Wilson (Hague, VA), Joyce A. Wilson (Washington, D.C.); fifteen sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law. A host of many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. A few dedicated and loving individuals: Melinda Wilson, Deborah Dickerson-Smith, Mary Johnson, and Kayla Leland.

Roland was preceded in death by his son Roland, Jr. “Buster” and his daughter Jacqueline “Flair”. Siblings Catherine Wallace, Julia Ross, William “Jackie” Wilson, Albert “Catfish” Wilson, Clinton “Pelican” Wilson, Sr., and Patricia Wilson.
