Sarah Jones Wright

Sarah Jones Wright was called to her eternal resting place on November 8, 2022 at Carrington Place of Tappahannock, VA.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and FRIEND.

She was born on March 4, 1945, to the late Frank and Mamie Jones in Westmoreland County, VA. She was educated at Salem School in Mount Holly, VA. She also lived in Washington DC.

She was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

Sarah worked various jobs throughout her lifetime to include the Orchard Nursing Home where she worked until her health began to fail. She also worked at the Inn at Montross, the oyster house, in Washington D. C. where she resided for a short period of time.

Sarah enjoyed sewing, working on crossword puzzles, and going to yard sales on Saturday morning.  She had a love for children and babysat for families throughout the neighborhood.

Sarah is preceded in death by four sisters: Dorothy Green, Lucy Thompson, Ida Jones, and Edna Jones; four brothers: James Jones, Thomas Jones, William Jones, and Walter Jones; two sisters-in-law: Virginia Jones and Marie Jones; and three brothers-in-law: Clarence Lewis, Sr., Louis Thompson, and William “Mickey” Green.

Sarah leaves to cherish precious memories her loving son Tyrone Jones; one granddaughter Tameka Wright; sister: Mary Lewis, Elsie Crawley, and Lillian Tate (Tommy); sister-in-law Edna Jones; a devoted friend and companion Walter Turner; her close friend and neighbor Shirley Veney; two young men who were dear to her heart, Donte Willis and Darius Carter; a special niece, Doris Thompson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the Salem Baptist Church, 1310 Erica Road, Montross, Virginia.

Interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Remains may be viewed from 10AM until service time on Saturday at Salem Baptist Church.
