On Friday, January 3, 2025, Sharon Darline Davis peacefully departed this life and entered into eternal rest at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. She was born on October 20, 1957 to the late Yvonne Jackson Newman and Norvel Newman. Darline was educated in the Westmoreland County School System, graduating from Washington and Lee High School in 1976. She was the owner of Davis HVAC, LLC for over 35 years and a Realtor for Century 21 since 2016. Prior to devoting all of her time to Davis HVAC, she was employed at Wiland & Associates and the U.S. Dept. of HUD.
Darline and Lewis Clay Davis were joined in Holy Matrimony on December 31, 1986. They shared a special bond! One thing for certain: if Darline asked Clay to do something, without a doubt, he was going to take care of it.
Darline was baptized at an early age and joined New Monrovia Baptist Church in Colonial Beach, Virginia under the leadership of the late Rev. Lloyd N. Watts. Darline was a member of the youth choir, the Spiritual Stars and the Voices of Harmony. Known for her soprano voice, some of her memorable songs were Take Me Back, Come to Jesus, and Trust and Never Doubt. She held fast to her faith and would say, “I don’t care what it looks like. We have to trust God and never doubt because He will make everything alright.” Darline also served as Trustee and head of the Kitchen Committee. She loved attending church and her church family. Even as she endured medical treatment, Darline remained steadfast in her dedication and attended church when she was physically able to do so.
Family was of utmost importance to Darline. She loved spending time with family, cooking large meals, and attending church and family events. Her love for her kids, grandkids, and Mariah, was a testament to the depth of a mother’s devotion. From the moment Mariah entered her life, she became the heart of Darline’s world. Through every triumph and trial, she stood as Mariah’s unwavering champion and steadfast anchor. Their bond was and will always remain unbreakable.
In her down time, Darline enjoyed getting dolled up and getting her hair done. Sometimes referred to as the “Lady in Black” or “Lady Di,” she loved her heels, jewelry, lipstick and her fancy dresses. Her bright personality and infectious laughter brought joy to all who knew her.
Darline was often described as a classy kind lady, often assisting her family, friends, and the community. While she was a genuinely kind and sweet natured person, she was also very straightforward – leaving little room for misinterpretation. If she said it, she meant it. Darline was a protector of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother, Kevin Newman. Loving memories of Darline will continue to live on in the hearts of her family.
Darline leaves to cherish her precious memory, her husband, Lewis Clay Davis of Spotsylvania, VA; sons, Damien Davis (Keena Shanklin-Davis) of Spotsylvania, VA, Ian Davis (Amanda) of Herndon, VA, and Steffon Davis (Keisha) of Spotsylvania, VA; bonus daughter, Mariah Newman of Spotsylvania, VA; grandchildren, Dayvonte’ Davis, Daynija Davis and Steffon Davis Jr. of Spotsylvania, VA; goddaughter, Kelisha Johnson of Colonial Beach, VA; sisters, Gwendolyn Johnson (Keith) of King George, VA, Michele Newman of Maryland, Brenda Hayes of Colonial Beach, VA; brothers, Gerald Newman of Montross, VA, Douglas Newman (Joyce) of King George, VA, Ronald Newman (Angela) of Essex County, VA, and Carlus Newman (Marsha) of King George, VA; aunts, Jean Newman of Colonial Beach, VA, and Patricia Gore of Upper Marlboro, MD; uncles, Lepius Newman of Colonial Beach, VA, and Donald Watts of Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
The passing of Darline was an unimaginable loss to her beloved family, friends, and community. While we will miss her in this earthly realm, we thank God for her healing and restoration through Christ Jesus.
