Stella Louise "Wheezie" Henderson

Stella Louise Henderson affectionately known as “Wheezie”, Stella Louise Henderson went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital in Tappahannock, VA.

She was born on November 1, 1945, the second of ten children to the late Leslie Sr. and Levinia Wilson of Westmoreland, VA. She was educated in the Westmoreland County Public Schools. She was baptized at an early age at Zion Baptist Church in Kinsale, VA.

Stella married her sweetheart, James Henderson, on July 15, 1961. She was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was a giving, loving, and caring person. She had a big heart and a beautiful smile that would light up the room. She was a beautiful woman with a loving and kind spirit. She never forgot a loved one’s birthday. Her famous saying instead of goodbye was “toot-a-loo.”

Stella was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Henderson; her son, Michael Henderson; her sisters: Delores Robinson, Lovely Wilson, Fannie Wilson; her twin brother Stanley; and brother-in-law, Luther Henderson Jr.

Stella leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Kevin Henderson (Amy) of Tappahannock, VA; two daughters: Lakisha Henderson (Brian) of Montross, VA and Latoya Carter (Robert Sr.) of Ruther Glen, VA; one daughter-in-law, Sheila Henderson of Spotsylvania, VA; nine grandchildren: Cameron Ashton (Ashley), Derek Johnson (Kiera), Lydia Smith (Eric), Mikeesha Henderson, Michael Daquan Henderson (Kimberly), Robert Carter Jr., Tyler Carter, Ashley Wilson (Dorin Sr.) and Michaela Thompson; twelve great-grandchildren: Connor, Aaralyn, Brooklyn, Germaine, Giavonni, Michael Watson III, Laila, Josiah, Dorin Jr., Akyla, Adore, and Anyla; three brothers: Leslie Wilson Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, William Wilson Sr. (Yvonne) of Sandy Point, VA, and James Douglas (Daisy) of Sandy Point, VA; two sisters: Joyce Jones of Spotsylvania, VA and Darlene Thomas (Larry) of Chesterfield, VA; one brother-in-law, Glenn Henderson Sr. (Sandy); five sisters-in-law: Rosa Rock, Avis Dixon (Walter), Ilena Keith, Joy Claud (Peter Sr.), and Andrea Davis (Anthony). She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Home going services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the Siloam Baptist Church, 1614 Zacata Road, Montross, Virginia.

Interment will follow in the Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery.

Remains may be viewed from 4PM until 6PM on Friday, April 8, 2022, in the chapel of the WELDON-FISHER FUNERAL HOME and from 10AM until service time on Saturday at Siloam Baptist Church.
