Samuel Lankford Fauntleroy was born October 28,1938 to the late William (Jimbo) Fauntleroy and Rose Smith Fauntleroy. He attended Westmoreland County Public Schools. On June 9, 1980, Sam married the love of his life, Pearl Brown. The love they had for each other was like no other.
Samuel accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Zion Baptist Church. He later joined Grace and Mercy Outreach Ministries. Sam, (as he was often referred to), was a dedicated usher at Grace and Mercy and loved directing traffic at church functions.
Sam began working at an early age. He was employed by Bevans Oyster Company in Kinsale, VA. He worked there for many years. He later went to work for Ampro Fisheries in Reedville, VA. He worked there for 40 years until he retired. He was a very dedicated employee.
Sam was truly loved by everyone. He was a wonderful husband and a great father. He loved all of his grandchildren very dearly and it showed every time he was in their presence. Sam loved to joked around and he enjoyed telling stories about his time on the fishboat. He was a hard-working man who enjoyed spending quality time with his family.
On January 11, 2022 at Lancashire Convalescence Center, God called Samuel home. The first person to greet him at heaven’s gate was his wife, Pearl Fauntleroy. They were reunited once again.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, William Fauntleroy and Rose Fauntleroy; his stepmother, Myrtle Campbell Fauntleroy; his children, Patricia Brown and Carl Garner, Jr; and his daughter-in-law, Melvin Kelly.
His memories will forever be cherished by his 5 children, Apostle Myrtle Johnson (Bishop Keith, Sr.), Robert Kelly, Esther Page (Louis), Minister Jacqueline Kelly, and Minister Teresa Wilson (Pastor Patrick); 8 sisters, Mary Kelly, Delois Wright (Herbert), Gloria Books (Pastor Frank), Eliza Henry, Lillian Yerby (Samuel), Annie Richards (Rev.
