On December 28, 1952 God blessed the earth with the birth of Talmadge Louis Campbell. Talmadge was born to the late Isaac and Mary Campbell. He grew up in Kinsale, VA. Talmadge was baptized at an early age, and attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church, where he worked and served diligently for the Lord. He was a faithful and active citizen of Gods Kingdom. He served in different capacities of ministry such as Trustee, Senior and Men’s Chorus, Hospitality Committee, Usher’s Ministry, Homeless Ministry, and Pastors Aide Committee. While most of these ministries were inside the building, his most effective ministry was one on one in the community.
Tee as he was affectionately called, loved to testify of the goodness of the Lord. His favorite songs were “I’m on the Right Road Now” and “I am Redeemed.” Tee loved serving the community and his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. He never came in contact with anyone he wasn’t willing to help or serve in some way, whatever the Lord laid on his heart to do, he did without hesitation. He took great pride in serving the Lord and others.
He was educated in Westmoreland County Public Schools, graduating from Washington and Lee High school in 1974. Upon graduating he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served four years and rose to the rank of Corporal. He was honorably discharged in 1978. After the military he was employed at Dahlgren Naval Base, he later received a position working for International Construction Labor Union where he served for 24 years. After his retirement from construction, he became a driver for Gawen Excavating.
Talmadge loved fellowshipping, drag racing, and celebrating others. It brought him great joy being around family and friends. On June 17, 2000, he married his lifelong partner of 21 years Bertha Campbell. From that union, God blessed them with a son. He was a loving husband, father, sibling, and a great provider.
On December 10, 2021, God opened the gate to heaven and welcomed his faithful servant home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Campbell and Nettie Ann Fauntleroy; two brothers, George Campbell and Ernest Campbell Sr.; brother-in-law, Charles Smith; and father-in-law, Henry Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Bertha Campbell; three sons, Dewayne Campbell (Maxcine), Vernon Campbell (Tina), and Tevin Campbell (Tasha); one godson, Jamal Pugh; one sister, Betty Mae Johnson (Pastor Daniel); two brothers, John Campbell (Emily), and Isaac Campbell; three grandchildren, McKinley Campbell, DeAuntre’ Wise, and Laquisha Pierce; three sisters-in-law, Rose Smith (Eric), Sarah Henry, and Anne Campbell. His ministry covering and faithful friends, Bishop Gerald Smith (Prophetess Tonya); special and dear friends, Odell Day, James Thorton (Popcorn), George Smith (Georgie), and Leroy Garner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
