Teaona Braxton

Our Beloved Teaona LaChelle Braxton was born in Richmond, VA on February 4th,1991, to Lawrence Braxton, Jr and the late Brenda Jean Laws.  God called his angel home to retrieve her golden wings on Tuesday July 26th 2022 at the Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, VA.

Teaona was affectionately known to her family and friends as Tea “the go getter”. She was a student in Richmond County public schools, but successfully completed her G.E.D through Penn Foster College. She worked as a CNA caring for others’ loved ones in private residential/nursing home settings, then became certified as a Med-Tech caring for others at Rehabilitations Facilities in Richmond, and surrounding areas.  Teaona decided in April of this year to further her education in healthcare by enrolling into a nursing program to become a future R.N. Teaona accepted Christ as her Lord and savior at a young age by joining Second Baptist Church located in Warsaw, Va.

Teaona was an above and beyond mother for her only son. A loving daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend, an ear when you needed one, and a person with all the good resources on how to level up, and get on your grind with jobs.

She preceded in death by her mother, Brenda Jean Laws; by both grandfathers, Deacon Wade A. Laws and Lawrence A. Braxton, Sr; grandmother, Gladys Braxton-Green; great grandmothers, Mary Braxton, Louise Johnson, and Lucy Laws; great grandfathers, Willie Braxton, Bernard Johnson Sr, and James “Mattie” Hill; aunt, Mary Braxton- Brown “Aunt Mousie”; great uncles, Robert Johnson, Sylvester Braxton, Winston Braxton, Samuel Green; the father of her son, Matthew “Matt” Stewart; and a host of other loved ones in the heavens.

Teaona leaves to cherish her memories to her only son, Ky’Mir Stewart aka her “Pootie”; father, Lawrence A. Braxton, Jr. (Natalia); grandmother, Betty Payne Laws; great-grandfather, John Gray; godson, Darrieon Holden; god dad, Antonio Lee; aunt, Patricia Braxton; great aunts to name, Ida Briscoe, Regina Johnson, Pearline Ashlock; great uncles, Carthon Johnson, Bernard Johnson, James Green, Johnny “Johnny Boy” Green; and a host of beloved great aunts and uncles.  Special cousins: Rashonda Braxton “A1 since Day 1”, Damian Braxton, Joseph Brown, Jordon Brown, Lamontria Brown, Lauren Kelly, Warren Kelly, Jolita Fountain, Deszy Croxton, Shinaa Johnson, Shamara Roane, and Tia Wise; little cousins: Kamrn Christian, Skylar Braxton, Damian Braxton, Jr, C’Asia Duncan, Taylor Veney; big cousins to name: Roshonda Johnson, Tracy Briscoe Whitted, Raymond Briscoe, Timothy Johnson, Lolita Barber; and hosts of other beloved cousins; bonus granddads, Clyde Lucas, Richard Payne, Jr; special friends: Lora Henderson, Eric Christian, Teresa Holden, Allycia Newton, Chase Scott, Tkeyah Rowe, Shantel Clark; and a multitude of friends and family members that loved her dearly. 

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 1PM in the sanctuary of the Second Baptist Church, 34 Wellfords Wharf Road, Warsaw, Virginia 22572.

Interment will follow in the Second Baptist Church Cemetery.

Remains may be viewed from 4PM until 6PM on Thursday, August 4, 2022, in the chapel of the WELDON-FISHER FUNERAL HOME and from 12Noon until service time on Friday at Second Baptist Church.
