Robert Randolph Hunter transitioned from earth to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Mary Washington Hospital. He was born to the late Blaine and Maude Hunter of Westmoreland County, Virginia.
Robert was preceded in death by his two brothers, Quentin Hunter and Clyde Hunter; three sisters, Edith Lee Jackson, Frances Hunter, and Eloise Bowels.
Robert received his education in Westmoreland County, Virginia public schools and worked at the Northern Neck Lumber Company until his retirement. During this time, he met and married the love of his life, Mary, and from their union they had one daughter.
At an early age, Robert gave his life to Christ and became a member of Little Zion Baptist Church, in Oak Grove, Virginia. He loved his church and was a faithful and active member who served on the Trustee and Usher Boards until his health started to decline.
Robert was a man of strength, valor, and integrity. His faith in God was the anchor and foundation of how he lived, which he instilled those values into his family. He was loved and respected by all who knew him and was always readily available to lend a helping hand where needed.
Robert was an avid gardener and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He adored spending time with his family and his laughter and smile could light up any room. He loved a good home-cooked meal, eating crabs, and watching his favorite football team, the Washington Commanders (formerly Redskins). He lived life and a full one of 91 years… what a blessing!
Robert leaves to cherish his memories and legacy, his beautiful wife of 69 years, Mary Hunter; beloved daughter, Henrietta Parker; devoted son-in-law, Lonnie Parker; two grandchildren, Andrea Parker and Latoya Young (David, Jr.); four great-grandchildren, Briana Parker, Dorian Young, David Young III, and Dasia Young; one sister-in-law, Annie M. Hunter; his god-daughter, Sarina Tate; his special cousin, Patricia Ann Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends. He will be sorely missed but forever in our hearts.
