Vanessa Romaine Fauntleroy was born June 22, 1961, to the late Carroll Edward Fauntleroy and Eliza Virginia Fauntleroy.
Vanessa, known to many as “Nessa” or “Red”, was a faithful and loving sister, aunt, caretaker, friend, braider, and babysitter. To know her was to love her. She was a deeply sweet and caring person.
She received her education in the Westmoreland County Public School and joined Zion Baptist Church at an early age.
Vanessa departed this life on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at MCV Hospital surrounded by her 9 siblings and family.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents; 2 nieces; 3 nephews; 1 great niece; 8 uncles; her adopted sister, Jacqueline Fauntleroy; and her adopted brother, Jerry Smith.
Vanessa leaves to cherish her sweet and precious memories, 9 siblings: William (Diane) of Warsaw, VA, Rosie of Oxen Hill, MD, Robert (Barbara) of Kinsale, VA, Clyde (Brenda) of Hague, VA, Patricia of Tappahannock, VA, Mary (Joseph) of Tappahannock, VA, Carolyn of Kinsale, VA, James (Monica) of Kinsale, VA, Dessiere (Gary), Oldhams, VA; 10 aunts; 1 uncle; 28 nieces and nephews; 57 great nieces and nephews; four great, great nieces and nephews; 4 devoted friends who she talked to every day: Pinky Fauntleroy, Issac Campbell, Barbara Fauntleroy, and Joseph Smith; one very special niece that she had to check with every day to make sure everything was OK, Jonelle Fauntleroy; and a host of relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service for Vanessa Fauntleroy will be held on Wednesday, July 17 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of Zion Baptist Church, 1274 Zion Church Road, Kinsale, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Remains may be viewed from 4PM until 6PM on Tuesday, July 16 in the chapel of the WELDON-FISHER FUNERAL HOME and from 11AM until service time on Wednesday, July 17 at Zion Baptist Church.
