Warren Elton Dean, best known as “Ox” or “Clum”, was born on June 28, 1952 to the late Luther Dean Sr. and Lillian Dean in Oldhams, VA. He was called home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2021, at actual time 4:20 p.m. and pronounced time at 6:04 p.m. at his daughter Cierra’s home. He was surrounded by his children and many loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Dean Sr. and mother, Lillian Dean; three sisters, Marjorie Morrison, Elsie Clayton, and Romaine Dean; and a step-daughter, Angelique Tate Cross.
He is survived by his children, Carlene Wilson (Eugene) Chestertown, MD, Maurice Hall (Jacquline) Tappahannock, VA, Patricia Salmon - Orlando, FL, Warren Newman - Tappahannock, VA, Cierra Thomas (Joseph) Kinsale, VA, Keon Newman (Shakolie) Kinsale, VA, Keisha Newman - Hague, VA, Miranda Newman - Coles Point, VA, and three whom he helped raise, TyKesha Turner - Newport News, VA, Charles Payne - Newport News, VA, and Chantonya Payne - Fredericksburg, VA; his step-children, John Wayne (Maude) Callao, VA, Floyd Campbell Jr. - Jacksonville, FL, Raymond Campbell (Christine) Montross, VA, Joyce Ball (Larry) Montross, VA, Burenstine Tate (Jimmy) King George, VA, Michael Campbell - Philadelphia, VA, Orlando Gibson - Middlesex, VA, Daniel Turner - Montross, VA, and Michelle Rich - Warsaw, VA; one brother, Lonnie Dean - Oldhams, VA; two sisters, Helen Plummer (Jacob) Oldhams, VA and Linda Garner (Leroy) Oldhams, VA; three in-laws, Carrie Smith - Warsaw, VA, Joane Pratt (Mark) Oldhams, VA, and John Tate - Oldhams, VA; a host of grandkids, step-grandkids, step-great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins, and etc.; special friends, Raymond Campbell, James Washington, Mike and Linda Alexander, John Farmer, Sally Plummer, Joseph Washington, Lamont Montgomery, and too many more to name.
Warren married the love of his life, the late Mary Tate on July 3rd, 2004. He accepted Christ at an early age. He didn’t attend church on the regular but he loved to listen to his gospel and have his own Praise and Worship on Sunday mornings. He attended Westmoreland County Public Schools and dropped out to go to work to help provide for his family. He was a farmer but had many other occupations. He loved to work on cars and other farm machinery. His favorite past time was fishing, hunting, playing cards (California), and the get togethers with his family and friends. He was one of the most kind, loving, and honest men you could ever meet. It was a pleasure for all that knew him. He will be fondly remembered by all of his family and friends as a loving son, brother, father, husband, step-dad, granddad, great-granddad, uncle, cousin, loving dedicated, and loyal friend and much, much more. He was a person that anyone could go to for help with anything. He will truly be missed by all
Home going services for Warren E. Dean will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of the Jerusalem Baptist Church, 2404 Nomini Hall Road, Hague, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Dean may be viewed from 4PM until 6PM on Friday, October 15 in the chapel of the WELDON-FISHER FUNERAL HOME and from 10AM until service time on Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church.
