William Edward Wright, was born November 28, 1949 in Westmoreland County, Virginia to the late Charlie Wright and Lucy Butler Taylor. William was affectionaly known as “Super Chick” or “Chick”.
Chick was educated in the Westmoreland school system. He accepted the Lord as his savior at an early age and joined Salem Baptist Church.
Chick was owner/operator of his own trucking business. He had a love for drag racing! He brought his first motorcycle not evening knowing how to ride one yet. He joined in with his hero William “Speed King” Dixon and The Strip Teaser racing family.
He later started working for Chatham Seafood and continued to work with them for a many years. He loved to oyster, crab and fish.
Chick was proceeded in death by his parents; one sister, Alice Wright; three brothers, Tommy, Curtis, and Esau Wright; and brother-in-law, Arnold Usual.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories four sisters: Emily Ann (that he looked to as his second Mom), Dorenda Wright, Diane Taylor and Cindy Muslim (Shakir); six brothers: Herman (Connie), Earl, Roland (Galanda) Wright, Paymus, Steven, and Lawrence Taylor; two buddies that were like sons Brian Gaines and Deshay Harris; two aunts, Rachel Ann Brooks and Mildred Ashton; a devoted friend that was like a brother, Larry Hall; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services for William Edward “Chic” Wright will be held on Friday, December 30 at 12 Noon in the sanctuary of Salem Baptist Church, 1310 Erica Road, Montross, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
Remains may be viewed from 4PM until 6PM on Thursday, December 29 in the chapel of the WELDON-FISHER FUNERAL HOME and from 10AM until service time on Friday at Salem Baptist Church.
