The book of life closed gently for Helen Delores Blue on Friday, November 11, 2022, at her residence in Warsaw, Virginia.
Helen was born in Richmond County Virginia on July 13, 1945, to the late Ferdinand and Catherine Blue. As a child Helen joined the Lyell’s Chapel Baptist Church and attended the Richmond County schools. After graduating from Richmond County High School, Helen relocated to Washington D.C. where she lived and worked for over 35 years before returning to Richmond County.
While in Washington D.C. Helen enjoyed working in several professions such as Clifford Cleaners and the U. S. Treasury Department. However, she enjoyed most working for political figures assisting with fundraisers and other odd jobs for them during their campaigns and while in office. Helen was a hard worker and kind person who enjoyed giving to others and spent countless hours and resources helping the homeless and others in need.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James and Fred Blue; one sister, Marie Blue Veney; one nephew, Herbert Thompson; one niece, Linda Thompson; and a very special friend for many years, Donald Rogers.
Helen leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Elizabeth Thompson, Westmoreland Virginia; one brother, Wayne Blue, Washington D.C.; a special niece, nephew, and care givers Carole Barber (Herbert) and Carl Blue, Warsaw, Virginia; one nephew, Anthony Blue; eight nieces: Jean Thompson, Sharon Thompson, Carole Barber (Herbert), Sandy Long (Rickey), Jamie Blue, Sharon Blue, Angela Lucas, Kendra Blue; and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 3PM in the sanctuary of the Mulberry Baptist Church, 1156 Mulberry Road, Farnham, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery.
Remains may be viewed from 1PM until service time on Saturday at Mulberry Baptist Church.
